This project investigates passive design optimization through adaptive structural responses to environmental and programmatic conditions. Inspired by the John Deere Headquarters, it critiques the uniform steel envelope for its inefficiency in addressing orientation and use. The proposed system, Clip-On Shade, reallocates structural material to improve solar shading, daylight control, and spatial quality. Developed through precedent analysis and iterative testing, the design offers a lightweight, responsive solution that enhances performance through passive means—balancing efficiency, sustainability, and architectural elegance.
