FLOATING TRAILS
Zhangjiajie, China
FALL 2016
Suspended high within the dramatic peaks of Zhangjiajie National Forest, Floating Trails reimagines the bridge as an immersive architectural experience—where movement gives way to mindfulness. More than a means of crossing, these elevated pathways create a choreography of stillness, inviting visitors to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world.
Designed with an ethos of lightness and integration, the structures blend into the forest canopy, appearing to float above the terrain. Their minimalist forms emphasize harmony over spectacle, offering subtle interventions that frame the surrounding landscape rather than dominate it. Floating Trails offers a rare spatial retreat—an elevated sanctuary where architecture and nature converge, and where the pace of modern life yields to quiet contemplation.
