Arcana Wine Bar transformed a former shoe store in San Francisco’s Mission District into an atmospheric gathering space inspired by garden cafés. The design approach stripped the building back to its original core, revealing concrete walls and exposed wooden trusses. A new double-height central space with mezzanines on both ends, skylights, and lush plantings created an immersive indoor-outdoor atmosphere. I worked closely with the client from concept through construction, ensuring that the adaptive reuse balanced creative vision with technical execution, so that the space realized its intended sense of indoor-outdoor immersion.
